HOME Worship We are an Anglican Church in the Anglican Catholic tradition. St. Paul’s is committed to the spread of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We welcome people from all walks of life, and together we offer our praise to God. As a congregation and as the Church we are committed to the support of the underprivileged, the persecuted and the socially marginalised. We come together to worship God, and to give thanks for our salvation in Christ. The present church (third on the site) stands as a focal point in Port Adelaide, for the worship of Almighty God and to serve the needs of the community. The church is open every Tuesday when a free Organ Recital is held followed by a short service of Evening Prayer. It is also open on Thursday and Friday for people to spend time quietly in a holy place, to pray, light a candle or just come and look around. The centre of our worshipping life is the Eucharist where, in obedience to Jesus Christ, we take bread and wine “in remembrance” of him. There is a service of the Holy Eucharist celebrated every Thursday at 5 pm. Sunday Worship Our Sunday worship is in a traditional style. There is a sense in which both the mystery of God and the friendliness of God are experienced as we use all sense to engage in worship. Solemn Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 10:15am. High Mass is celebrated on Holy days that fall or are transferred to a Sunday. The incense, candles, ceremonial, music, use of altar servers, and colourful vestments are expressions of our deep conviction that the Holy is in our midst. As an Anglican Parish church, we recognise that members of our congregation are from varied church backgrounds, or none. There is an emphasis on teaching the Christian faith and there is a lively children’s ministry in which the spirituality of children is taken seriously. It is our aim to help and encourage every member to grow in faith, prayer and understanding. We are an open church, with an enquiring and questioning congregation, with a growing sense of pastoral care and service to those within the local community and further afield. Study courses are offered throughout the year on the basic teachings of the Christian faith and on Prayer. They usually take place on a weekday evening. The Sacraments of Baptism, Marriage and Confession are conducted when requested and the Holy Communion is taken to the housebound and sick. There is a pastoral care group which is available to make visits to those in the community.
